Viva House
Hoggs HollowOur clients discovered a weathered and poorly maintained mid-century modernist classic home by the renowned Toronto architect Irving Grossman. They knew a gem when they saw one, despite the years of neglect to house and landscape. Rather than request a strict and historically precise restoration, the clients’ vision for the next chapter was to carefully refresh the building with new interpretations of detail and surfaces — all with full respect to the original design. Off came the peeling plywood exterior walls, rotten wood balconies and aluminum soffits. New colour, materials and surfaces were introduced and the original house sang again.
